Ehehe... met J and G, went Sentosa for the luge, hehee (sedate, overcrowded) and the chairlift thingey. G so very very taken by ze bleached native. Strolled about sweaty beaches that were over-bmi-ed and overtanned, obnoxious servicegirl scooped icecream, bengs with counterparts fishing in shallow twixt-bencoolen-sand muddy brine, sun-in-eye gilt-silhouettes and pretentious bars with gawdawful house musikke, saw old trails, & things about trains. Dinner at le meridien, drinks, W persuaded us to spend a few moments at axmoay. Some goings-on, hk singer crooning his insipid-faux-jazzpop and loads and loads of standing-sitting overmuscled overpreened gals guys its. Supper of roti prata, most delishe, and a thrilling ride through upper peirce reservoir, ze path stretching away into scarcely lit leafiness, and a van that appeared out of nowhere. G was so petrified, W cackled hail marys. Ehehe. |

Ehehe... watched "Amelie" again, and "L.A. Confidential" and "Sideways". Amelie glowed in the warmth of a new understanding... ehehe while Sideways seemed a wee runt after Confidential, which really was very good. Granted Sideways is a "small" movie budgetwise, but the plot... meanders. It could be the "best American movie this year" as the blurb enthusiastically informs those who in video store aisles loiter (rot I feel, just like how an emaciated E. Hawke jabbering away with no discernable charm could result in another "best" movie), but it throws its dramatic and emotional punches wussily, at least after the muscle of Confidential, which is Hollywood at its best. Russell Crowe may well be a sort of demi-thug, but boy can he act. Gimme Russell & Bruce Willis to smooth-cheeked vanillas like T. Cruise and J. Law any day. |
