About Me

Ehehe... my vile corruption of a breathless quote by that ballerina in Pedro Almodovar's "Talk to Her"... from the earth the ethereal, from beasts flowers, and from man woman and vice versa...
Something Lovely

The matinee, full of us medics. OT (or Operation Theatre).
The Bad: It rained like anything. Traffic lights wonky, waited 10 minutes to cross the road, so I jaywalked anyway. Jubilee Hall seats sucked like they always did. L up to his usual weird behaviour :).
The in-between: Script just a bit overlong I felt, but maybe it's just me. Didn't really like the lovey-doveying, but I generally detest the mawkish stuff anyway. The jokey bits were fun, though, and the self-referencing humour hit some right spots.
The Good: Really pleasantly surprised. It felt like a musical, somewhat rough around the edges to be sure, but it held and it went somewhere. The villain oozed stage presence, and the misfits, N especially, showed canny comic timing. The SARS tribute was unexpected and tender. The singing was sincere. The melodies were hook-ish, with thankfully spare arrangements. The crew did some fabulous work. And the audience had a jolly 3 odd hrs, which was really what mattered, in a sense, I guess, and so it was good :).
I suppose I sound a teeny presumptuous typing a review of sorts, but this is a blog, so there, ehehe :).

Some books I cannot imagine not having read, for the wondrous and myriad influences they have exerted in various aspects of my being:

1.) The short stories of Roald Dahl
2.) Ditto Saki
3.) And Colette
4.) Wilde, but only "Importance..."
5.) Anne Rice's early stuff, potent purple stews those
6.) E. Nesbit, especially the "Five Children & It" series and "The Enchanted Castle"
7.) Willard Price, for my love for the wild
8.) Dracula, the perfect, being as quintessentially Victorian as
9.) The Sherlock Holmeses
10.) Zazie dans le Metro, just for the lark of it. Ehehe...

Watched "Mysterious Skin" three days ago with G and J, then supper and home. There was duck, and an Estee Lauder makeup party in Taka, to which all sorts flocked, and so very amused we were.
