The matinee, full of us medics. OT (or Operation Theatre).
The Bad: It rained like anything. Traffic lights wonky, waited 10 minutes to cross the road, so I jaywalked anyway. Jubilee Hall seats sucked like they always did. L up to his usual weird behaviour :).
The in-between: Script just a bit overlong I felt, but maybe it's just me. Didn't really like the lovey-doveying, but I generally detest the mawkish stuff anyway. The jokey bits were fun, though, and the self-referencing humour hit some right spots.
The Good: Really pleasantly surprised. It felt like a musical, somewhat rough around the edges to be sure, but it held and it went somewhere. The villain oozed stage presence, and the misfits, N especially, showed canny comic timing. The SARS tribute was unexpected and tender. The singing was sincere. The melodies were hook-ish, with thankfully spare arrangements. The crew did some fabulous work. And the audience had a jolly 3 odd hrs, which was really what mattered, in a sense, I guess, and so it was good :).
I suppose I sound a teeny presumptuous typing a review of sorts, but this is a blog, so there, ehehe :).
