About Me

Ehehe... my vile corruption of a breathless quote by that ballerina in Pedro Almodovar's "Talk to Her"... from the earth the ethereal, from beasts flowers, and from man woman and vice versa...
Something Lovely

Went morning Bras Basah with J, met A for a little while... could not resist buying a book of reproductions of Lawrence Alma-Tadema's languid melodramatic paintings. An exquisite daub of cold melting chocolate with a pistachio heart in Ah Teng's Bakery, dappled with powdered gold and served by a supercilious thing with a smirk. Met Ms H for tea, with C and L and W. Drank pots and pots of lukewarm tea and Ms H, as we discovered, had astounding bladder control. Delightful dinner at Sanur with C and W and J dissing George Bush, lamenting the dating habits of the dirty hordes, and annoying the exomphthalmic waitress no end with our cheapish requests. Watched wretched birds, sheep and llamas systematically mistreated at the "Orchard Zoo", were sniggering in conspicuous fashion at scarlet ibises, toucans, and tiny parrots who thought mural was real waterfall, like Plato's cave, as C said.
Watched "Murder on the Orient Express" with stellar cast (i.e. Lauren Bacall, John Gielgud, Sean Connery, Vanessa Redgrave, and lots more probably rather famous then), a somewhat dubious Poirot, and excellent production values. Brother disdainful of Vanessa R's visage, though I find her subtly intriguing. A. Christie's plots are timeless.
